Beyond the Bin: Where Do Hong Kong's Unwanted Clothes Go?

More than 400 tonnes of textile waste ended up in Hong Kong's landfills every day in 2023, according to the Environmental Protection Department figures. That's nearly 1,900 pieces of clothing thrown away every minute.


Despite the city's more than 200 donation bins, fewer than 14% of textiles were recycled last year—over 86% still went to landfills. Tap to read more about where Hong Kong's unwanted clothes go and what we could do.

Part-Time Social Media Content Executive at Prestige Hong Kong & Lifestyle Asia

From January 2026 to March 2026, I worked for Prestige Hong Kong and Lifestyle Asia as Part-Time Social Media Content Executive. I researched, proposed, and helped design at least three social media posts a day for both accounts, whilst also attending media events to interview celebrities, edit footage and publish reels content.
